Update : Nah. I want a flatfender, but now’s not the time, and this isn’t the one.
Now, there’s a manual XJ with a misfire in Anderson...
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Going to check out this rough Jeep tomorrow.
I can’t imagine I’ll buy it, but maybe it’ll be love at first sight, after a tetanus shot or two.

And while typing this up I received my COVID-19 test result from Wednesday.

Clearcoat peel on a car that only had single stage from the factory looks wrong. Price is a bit steep for the amount of rust but it doesn't seem that bad.

Thanks for clarifying for me why that was bothering me so much!

Yay no COVID! Jeep looks interesting if the frame is ok. Good luck!

Thanks. I’m torn: there’s also a rough manual XJ on the other side of the state. That’s cheaper, and the one I really should be going to check out, but it’s also FB Marketplace, which I can’t directly communicate with, so the flattie gets it.

The flattie is more interesting, but less useful - you can’t daily it.
Wonder why the original engine isn't in the truck?

Don’t know, and frankly I don’t know that I want the hassle of two engines. As appealing as it would be to have the Go-Devil for sentimental reasons, I’m sure the current one has more power and is more practical.
Dunno. Realistically I’m in no position financially or practicality-wise to restore it or use it as more than an infrequent toy , so I’m not at all sure why I’m going to see it, other than the fact that I’ve wanted one for several years.

Turn the flathead into an end table and enjoy the Pinto power that’s under the hood.

Yes, it is subtl y wrong in a way that would bother me.

Glad you’re healthy!
Good luck with the Willys, it looks like a giant pile of rust though so really think about it before you buy it. They’re mechanically simple but can get expensive fast.
Also a no-synchro first gear transmission and 4 wheel manual 9" drums on a 80" wheel base makes for a sketchy ride above 30 mph.
